Prophecy is the future foretold
A sound knowledge of Biblical prophecy is essentially crucial to our survival into the new dispensation of The Kingdom of God on Earth!
Our Lord Jesus taught saying, “But know this, that if the goodman of the house HAD KNOWN in what watch the thief WOULD come, he WOULD have watched, and WOULD NOT have suffered his house to be broken up”. Matthew 24:43
Paul reinforces our Lord’s teaching that we “are not in darkness that that day should overtake you as a thief”, 1 Thessalonians 5:4, and exhorts disciples to, “follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but RATHER that ye may prophesy” 1 Corinthians 14:1.
Concluding 1 Corinthians 14 with an exhortation to covet the gift of prophecy, these few verses make it very clear that PROPHECY is THE VITAL GIFT that we must aspire to attain!
John in The Revelation 1:1 clearly states the servants of God are shown the future, and confirms this in chapter 19, “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” Revelation 19:10.
Simply said, Christians SHOULD KNOW the future from diligent study of The Word! Our knowledge grows with STUDY using five VITAL guidelines to PREVENT error, and ensure accuracy!
- Scripture is complete.
- Scripture interprets Scripture,
- Scripture agrees with Scripture,
- Scripture never contradicts Scripture, and
- We measure the message a particular verse imparts with the rest of The Word!
“Surely the Lord God WILL DO NOTHING, but he REVEALETH his SECRET to his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy”? Amos 3:7 and 8.
