Proper research and study of the book of Daniel began in America around the turn of the nineteenth century. Whilst scripture clearly teaches, “no man knows the day or the hour” of our LORD Jesus Christ’s return, Matthew 24:36, the initial serious “church” examination of Daniel resulted in the belief our Lord Jesus would return on 22nd October 1844. These Christian believers known as the Millerites, in anticipation of this momentous occasion, gave away houses, and possessions only to discover their thinking was “flawed”. They had in fact been deceived!
Continuing their work to hand down tested knowledge, a few venerable elders in a small fellowship they named “The Forum for Truth”, taught Lester Oliver Thomas Flock. Lester received their writings and notes in 1994, and identifying an enormous need for a new quality in teaching for Christ’s church, continued their ministry by beginning to write a deliverable record of their findings in The Scriptures.
Previously a locked work, Daniel 12:9, the book of Daniel provides critical key detail to understanding The Revelation. The 1844 Disappointment (as the event later came to be known), bitter as this was, marked the beginning of man’s understanding of Daniel’s time prophecy of seventy weeks. Daniel 9 verses 24 to 27. It also marked the fulfilment of The Revelation chapter 10, the “mighty angel with the little book, (Daniel), open in his hand”.
Fascinated by this and seeking to know more, Flock was shocked by the response to his genuine desire to study. He found both interest and knowledge lacking in his charismatic church! No one appeared interested, or EQUIPPED to teach Daniel and The Revelation. Visiting different churches yielded no results either.
Eventually, finding The Seventh Day Adventists, Flock completed two diplomas in Biblical prophecy under the teaching and guidance of his pastor, and receiving instruction from a Professor brother and mentor in 1996, Flock began in earnest to produce 12 discipleship seminar sessions titled “The Pure River of Life”.
Doctrinal differences between Flock and the Adventists precipertated the inevitable, and Flock returned to his Charismatic Church in hope of teaching Daniel and The Revelation. Again finding discrepancies with Church Doctrine and Scripture, Flock decided to trust God, and leave the regular churches. Presented as a course in prophetic study centred around the books of Daniel and The Revelation, the work was finally completed in 2015, and has since been freely handed to committed Christians questioning and challenging their church teaching.
The Pure River of Life addresses the need to liberate Christians trapped in deception and church dogma! Focused on teaching the “more sure word of prophecy” from The Word, 2 Peter 1:19, the work offers disciples an academic approach to the study of Scripture. The foundational precepts, and principles upon which our Lord’s Church Doctrine can stand, are presented, offering Christians the opportunity to make their own educated decisions.
The message is scripture’s message for those in search of the Kingdom of God, Christ’s Church, prophetic truth, and unity in the Body of Christ.
